News Gold Coast Hinterland Day Spa Retreat

Helping to make things ‘Rosies’ this winter

Jun 2, 2010

Rosies Friends on the StreetGold Coast real estate agency, Net Property Group (NPG), and ecotourism icon, O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, have joined forces with renowned charity Rosie’s ‘Blanket Appeal’ to help keep the homeless and people who require assistance in keeping warm this winter.

Rosies have been providing support to those on Gold Coast streets for over 20 years by offering blankets, warm drinks, companionship and are always there for a chat. However, the charity is in desperate need of blankets before winter and is appealing for help from locals.

Net Property Group“A lot of people do not understand the seriousness of this problem right on our door step, where issues have arisen from poverty, bad business decisions, long-term unemployment, meaning people’s lives can change overnight,” said NPG’s Principal, Emma Hoger-Jefferies.

“Rosies Blanket Appeal is a way to give something back to these people to add a little worth in their lives.”

O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat Mountain Villas and Lost World SpaGenevieve O’Reilly, from O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat is helping to coordinate the donation efforts.

“As the cooler weather sets in, we’re asking Gold Coasters to help out the less fortunate by donating their old blankets to one of our drop-off points,” said Genevieve O’Reilly.

“We have the opportunity to not only warm their bodies, but warm their spirits by showing that we care.”
