Come face to face with cold-blooded creatures at O’Reilly’s new animal awareness show.

The O’Reilly’s ‘Reptile Encounter’ show features a range of native Australian snakes including three out of the top 10 most venomous snakes in the world, plus a variety of monitors, lizards and turtles. Afterwards, a ‘chat and pat’ session gives you the chance to get up close and personal with some of these fascinating creatures, under the watchful eye of their experienced handlers.

The 30 minute show is hosted by O’Reilly’s Activities Manager Phillip Ghamraoui who, with over 16 years experience as an animal handler, is excited about sharing his passion with visitors.

“The show is an awareness program based on encounters in the wild. It explains how to approach these creatures if you come across them, and actions to take to ensure the safety of both yourself and the animals,” said Mr Ghamraoui.

“It also aims to dispel the myths and legends surrounding these creatures, and hopefully guests will develop a natural appreciation for them.”

O’Reilly’s are planning a ‘Birds of Prey’ show featuring Wedgetail Eagles, Falcons and Owls, which is due to open to the public later in the year.

Conference groups also have the opportunity to meet resident ‘locals’ with the ‘Roving Reptiles’ experience. Morning or afternoon tea, or pre-dinner drinks are served with a difference as experienced handlers introduce delegates to juvenile crocodiles during their break-out sessions.

The ‘Reptile Encounter’, ‘Birds of Prey’ and ‘Roving Reptile’ presentations are part of O’Reilly’s Discovery Program, an interpretive activities program that aims at sharing the wonders of Lamington National Park with guests.

O’Reilly’s ‘Reptile Encounter’ show runs daily at 11:30am in the Guesthouse Pavilion.
