O’Reilly’s Eco Message
O’Reilly’s have many years experience since opening in 1926 with the teams inspiration, Bernard O’Reilly - we often ponder “what would Bernard do?’ Each member of the O’Reilly’s guiding team has their individual passions so no one tour is the same. The real highlight on our tours is the friendships formed and smiles created when guest are away from the regular life. We commit to sharing knowledge and experiences of the World Heritage Lamington National Park to our guest.
With every tour we endeavor to find the rare, fragile and unique things that you personally might miss on your own. We take only photos and leave nothing but footprints.
The motto of O’Reilly’s guiding team is preserving the ancient rainforest eco-system for future generations. Educating, starting with the kids by making it creative, fun and inspiring them with the message of bio-diversity.
The guiding team is all about sustainability – Preserving the current resources for the future needs. We can reduce our environmental footprint by following little things that can help such as:
- During night activities use rechargeable batteries for torches.
- Refill water bottles where and when you can.
- Bring warm clothing and save on external heating
- Do not litter.
- Do not feed the wildlife
- Best to stick to designated paths so that you do not harm flora and fauna
Bird Feeding
Bird feeding is a licensed activity that the O’Reilly’s started when one family member cared for a sick and injured Crimson Rosella. As they came into the care of the O’Reilly’s they continued to feed them once released and the word got out. Today we continue to feed the Crimson Rosella and King Parrot to educate people about feeding the right food to wildlife and the importance they have in the eco-system.
