Crush: News from Canungra Valley Vineyards

Named in honour of second generation family matriach, Lona O'Reilly, this wine is not only a celebration of Lona, but of all mothers and the unconditional love they give us. The appropriateness of the name was summed up at the wine launch by one of her daughters, Anne O'Reilly, by letting us all know that Lona likes nothing more than a glass of something cold, white and bubbly at the end of a long day!

The Lona is made from young South Burnett Semillon grapes in the tradtional Methode Champenoise style. The resulting wine is crisp and light in texture, with citrus fruit flavours balanced by mineral notes and slight biscuity touches. It is drinking very well now, but will also cellar well for 3-5 years to develop some of the more yeasty flavours.

NEW CELLAR DOORS Cellar door wine tasting

The Canungra Cellar Door is fully stocked and now open. It is located on the main street, right next door to the 'Outpost Cafe'. If you are passing through the town, pop in and say hello to Seiji or Emma.

For those on the Sunshine Coast, we invite you to the opening of our Yandina Cellar Door at the Ginger Factory on Sunday, 8th June at 2:00pm. As part of the celebrations, we'll be hosting a tasting of the Shane Reserve Shiraz and Viola Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, plus the new Lona Sparkling Semillon 2007. We look forward to seeing you there and introducing you to the new Yandina team.

PLATYPUS PLAY SEMILLON 2008 AND VINCE RESERVE VERDELHO 2008 LAUNCH - June (date to be advised)

We're just awaiting confirmation from our winemaker on bottling progress to confirm the final date for this event. Although we lost our Semillon vines with the flood earlier this year, luckily we still have our vines at Ballandean. Therefore, we will be launching our limited edition Semillon 2008 vintage plus the Vince Reserve Verdelho 2008 vintage later this year and invite you to join us for this special occasion. 'DOWN BY THE CREEK' FESTIVAL - Sunday, 6th July

Join us as we 'jazz it up' during our 'Down by the Creek' Festival, on Sunday 6th July. Come and enjoy an afternoon of great food and live music featuring renowned Blues artist Bo Jenkins and his band, Australia's premier Blues / Harp player Chris Wilson and The Easybeats' Stevie Wright, plus special guest Sarah Carroll. DAY TRIP TO SIRROMET WINERY - Friday 25th July

Join us for a fun day trip to Sirromet Winery for a winery tour, wine tasting and two-course lunch. VINEYARD NEWS

After some TLC to rejuvenate the area, the ground has been broken for the replacement of the Semillon vines. We should be able to advise of a replanting date in the June edition of 'Crush'.

Experience the magic of autumn as the Chambourcin leaves change into beautiful shades of the season. We don't always get the right conditions for the change to happen with such effect, so it is wonderful to enjoy the beauty while we can.
