It's the perfect combination to warm you up from the inside out as temperatures start to drop. EASTER - 21st-24th March
Easter comes early this year, falling at the end of March. We will be closed on Friday 21st March for Good Friday, but will be open again from Saturday, operating at our normal hours over the rest of the weekend. WINE LAUNCH - important date change!
Due to a prior booking, the launch of the Lona Sparkling Semillon, Shane Shiraz 2006, and Viola Cabernet 2006 has now moved to
Saturday 19th April. Join us for a fantastic day as we celebrate the long awaited and eagerly anticipated launch of these fabulous wines. Arrive by 11:30am for a 12:00pm start in the Wine Cellar with Mike Hayes (our winemaker) to taste and savour these new releases. Stay on for a set lunch menu at 'Vintage', based on the new Autumn menu, or relax beside the creek with a picnic or BBQ basket. Canungra Creek is flowing very well and has been a popular spot for a cooling quick dip on a hot day. Our wine launches are always popular so be sure to book early as places are limited. VINEYARD NEWS
Chambourcin harvest a great success
150 keen and eager harvesters joined us at the vineyard on Saturday 23rd February for one of the fastest Chambourcin harvests on record - 1 and 3/4 hours! We picked a grand total of 6.5 tonnes, which was approx 60% of our fruit. The balance of the Chambourcin will be harvested for Port in the next few weeks with Mike Hayes, our winemaker, salivating over the quality of the fruit. We look forward to welcoming those of you back who volunteered to help pick the Port and will be in contact shortly to confirm the date.
Thank you again to everyone who came along to the Chambourcin harvest - even with the late date change - and we look forward to tasting the fruits of our labour next year!
Platinum member Lyn Traill sent us this poem after the harvest, which sums up the morning perfectly...
On being improperly dressed for the harvest!
At 5:30 we assembled,
The grapes we were to pick.
Lyn and Vicki turned up overdressed
And began to feel quite sick!
The best designer gum boots
Mixed with t-shirts, caps and joggers…
We could see that those assembled there
Were practiced cutting sloggers!
But as we got into the spirit
We forgot about our dress
It didn’t matter that the sun frock
Was covered in grape mess!
Our feet felt nice and scrunchy
As we trod the grape strewn aisles,
We were there for just one purpose
And there were faces wreathed in smiles!
With everyone cutting madly
The job was quickly done!
And we all agreed that cutting grapes
At O’Reilly's was great fun.
Then there was the Champagne breakfast,
A time to take a rest,
And Vicki didn’t feel so very strange
For this she was properly dressed!
So thanks for the great privilege
Of joining in the fun!
Next time we’ll wear our gum boots
And our sun hats for the sun!
We really enjoyed ourselves,
