THE BIG CLEAN-UP

The big clean-up has now mostly been completed with a BIG thank you to our members David & Una, David & Jan, Alan, Annette, David, Scott & Nicola, Judy, Lorelle, Ann & Clive, Mel, Kevin & Kate, Ian, and Peter & Judy who generously helped with repacking wines, removing debris from around the vines and garden beds or even bringing lunch for us before the kitchen was operational.

A very big thank you to the vineyard team for their cheerfulness, hard work and determination to get us open and operating as quickly as we did. We will be replanting the vines in August this year (dates yet to be confirmed), and we invite all our members to join in - it has even been suggested that vines or row naming rights could be on offer!

In the meantime, we are open and operational again, and we welcome you to come and visit. The view of the creek has been expanded, the island has gained some height (but lost some trees), the grass is growing back and - most importantly - the platypus are back in town! We have had some good sightings in the past few weeks, at all times of the day, so come along and spot them for yourselves.

WINE OF THE MONTH - Vince Reserve Verdelho 2007

With the last of summer upon us, it is a great time to enjoy the Vince Reserve Verdelho 2007 which recently won a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Sofitel Queensland Wine awards. Think Verdelho, vine-ripened tomato bruschetta, a shady verandah and you've created a magical summer's evening! Verdelho is becoming popular as a Queensland variety and grows quite well in this climate to produce a satisfying wine to drink now or hold in your cellar or wine fridge over the next few years. The Vince Reserve Verdelho has a lemony-honey colour with initial tropical fruit flavours on the nose, leading to honeysuckle and pineapple notes. The palate is smooth, medium bodied, ending with a clean finish.

DIARY DATES

SNIPS, SNAGS AND CHAMBOURCIN HARVEST BBQ

After an assessment of the Chambourcin, it looks likely that we will be harvesting on Saturday 1st March. At this stage, the harvest list is full and we thank all our members for their support. If you are on the list and unable to make it on the 1st March, may you please let us know as soon as possible as we have a very eager waitlist of members.

We start at 5:30am with tea, coffee and pastries then the picking starting at 6:00am. Bring your gardening gloves, hats and outdoor shoes / boots as the ground is quite dewy in the morning. The early morning sun can be quite strong so we advise cool comfortable clothing that will offer you some sun protection. We will provide suncream, bandaids, insect repellent and the Stingose - and of course a delicious BBQ breakfast when we're done!

Actual harvest date will be advised closer to the time and is dependent on weather and harvest conditions.

EASTER - 21st-24th March

Easter comes early this year, falling at the end of March. We will be closed on Friday 21st March for Good Friday, but will be open again from Saturday, operating at our normal hours over the rest of the weekend.
