WINE OF THE MONTH - Platypus Play Devine Red
The Devine Red has a medium body, fruit-driven middle palate with a light tannin finish.
A smooth combination of Chambourcin, Cabernet, Merlot and Shiraz has resulted in strawberry tones overlaid with the earthy flavours consistent with the Chambourcin grape.

WINE LAUNCH
There are still some places available to join us for our special member's launch of the new Shane Reserve Shiraz 2005 and Viola Reserve Cabernet 2005, on Saturday 25th August 2007. Be amongst the first to taste our new reds, including the Shane Reserve Shiraz 2005 which has already been awarded a Bronze Medal at the RQAS Mediterranean Wine Challenge 2007. Arrive at 11:30am for a glass of bubbles, with the launch and wine tasting commencing at 12:00pm. Stay on for a delicious picnic or BBQ basket lunch, or enjoy Chef Rob's special Winter Buffet Feast for $38.00 per person for members, $42.00 per person for non-members. GOLD COAST WINE MAKER'S DINNER
Enjoy a gourmet six-course dinner matched with wines from Gold Coast Hinterland wineries and vineyards at the annual Gold Coast Wine Maker's Dinner, held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Saturday, August 25th. Recent visitors will have noticed that Glen has been busy in the vineyard with his snips giving the vines their annual prune.
Once the vines become dormant (usually after a frost or two), it is the ideal time to remove all of the previous years canes to promote new growth for the next harvest.
This process will take Glen between 2 - 3 weeks to complete the 3500 vines. We expect the first of bud burst to occur in mid-September, then they will start growing at a fast paced rate of around 30cm a week!
BRISBANE EKKA AWARD
Had a great time at the Brisbane EKKA recently, and it was lovely to see some of our members visit the stand. This year we were awarded the first prize for our stand presentation! The award was presented to Steven Spurgin, O'Reilly's Executive Retail Manager by the Honourable Margaret Keech, Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading, Wine Industry Development and Women.
