Canungra Creek Festival

From alpacas to arts and crafts to food galore, the Canungra Creek Festival certainly had something for everyone!
Canungra Valley Vineyards celebrated this fun-filled local event by hosting a family market day with delicious food stalls, amazing timber crafts, animal petting zoo and a fishing casting competition to raise awareness of the environment.
It was a fantastic day by the creek and great to see the celebration of local spirit.

Canungra Summer Soiree

Chambourcin Harvest

Lightning may not strike twice, but floods certainly do!
It was a nervous wait at the Vineyard as we were hit by our second flood in three years, right in the middle of harvest season. The flood struck after the Verdelho pick but unfortunately just weeks shy of the scheduled Chambourcin harvest. It was a nervous wait for Wine Production Manager, Mark Thurbon, who thought the grapes could be affected and might split, but luckily the Wine Gods were smiling down on us and they were spared (thanks Vince and Karma).
In the end, around 100 perky pickers joined us with snips in hand for another fun harvest morning, with lots of laughs and the tempting smell of a BBQ breakfast to keep everyone motivated.
A massive 5.426 tonnes were picked, which is now in Stanthorpe masterfully being crafted into Bernard Merlot Chambourcin and Pete's Port. Thanks again to our amazing members and stay tuned for launch details...
Verdelho Harvest

Our recent Verdelho harvest was really well attended with 130 wonderful members joining us despite the short notice! Someone was definitely watching over us as the rain just held off for the day, recommencing later that night. We picked 3 tonnes of Verdelho in record time – 2 hours!
Everyone was relaxing with a 'Bubbles and BBQ' breakfast by 8:00am, enjoying a well-deserved rest and having a chat over a glass of bubbly. .jpg)
The grape stomping was also a big success - and a lot of messy fun! - with most people having a go.
The grapes had a baume of 12.8 and were chauffeured to Stanthorpe (under a watchful eye!) by our wine production guru Mark Thurbon. Winemaker Mike Hayes has now begun the magical process of turning our fruit into wine, so stay tuned for launch dates so you can taste the spoils of your labour!
Vineyard's 10th Birthday

Happy birthday to us! Thanks to all our members who helped us celebrate a milestone as the Vineyard celebrated it's 10th birthday. It was a fantastic family fun day with a ping pong regatta in the creek, grape spitting competition, roving reptiles, tractor rides, face painting, local produce tasting, a live band, plus of course plenty of good food and great wine with a BBQ buffet lunch by the creek.

Christmas in July

Ho-ho-ho! The Vineyard celebrated Christmas in July in style, with merriment, festive feasting and lots of tinsel! Thank you to all our members who joined us for this fun evening, and whether you were naughty or nice, everyone had a great night.

Bernard Merlot Chambourcin Members Wine Launch
Saturday, 30th May
The eagerly anticipated launch of our new Bernard Reserve Merlot Chambourcin was a great success with over 80 members joining us to celebrate this new vintage. This lucky crop survived the devastating flood waters one year ago and was hand-picked by our loyal members and staff just after the big clean-up.
Members joined our winemaker, Kieran Carney, in the wine cellar to taste this new release, which has been blended with a new premium variety. Afterwards, Chef Rob Wauters hosted a fantastic cooking demonstration using the new Bernard.

Chambourcin and Verdelho Harvest

150 eager harvesters joined us at the vineyard bright and early at 5:30am on Sunday 22nd February to help pick our Chambourcin and Verdelho crops. We picked almost 6 tonnes all up, with 5.5 tonnes of Chambourcin and 1/2 tonne of Verdelho. Our loyal harvesters were then rewarded with a delicious BBQ breakfast, followed by over 40 enthusiastically energetic members battling it out in our annual grape stomping competition!
Thank you again to everyone who donated their time to the harvest and we look forward to welcoming you back for the wine launches. Watch this space...

Always committed to see a job through to the end, Vineyard team members Mark, Alison, Chantelle and Glen then escorted the grapes to the winery in Murgon for crushing.
Thankfully the grapes arrived safely, obviously due to their expert bodyguarding skills - look our Kevin Costner!
