The First Generation
- 1911
- O'Reilly boys select land on the McPherson Range to establish dairy farms.
- 1914
- Stockyard Creek Track is constructed as the main access to the mountain. First visitors to the area stayed in the O'Reilly slab huts.
- 1915
- Lamington National Park is proclaimed.
- 1919
- Herb, Luke, Mick and Bernard appointed as honorary rangers. Mick O'Reilly appointed working overseer of the Park becoming Queensland's first national park ranger.
- 1925
- Tom O'Reilly initiates the building of the Guesthouse.
- 1926
- O'Reilly's Guesthouse welcomes its first guests for Easter.
- 1930
- Mick and new bride Annie leave to establish farm at Conondale.
- 1935
- Laheys Ltd, build a road up the mountain to the edge of the National Park, reducing the horseback journey to four miles.
- 1937
- Bernard O'Reilly finds the lost Stinson aircraft and saves the lives of two survivors.
- 1944
- Mick and Annie O'Reilly return with sons Vince and Peter.
- 1946
- Mick is appointed Guesthouse Manager on a salary of £4 a week.
- 1947
- Landslides close the road for 4 weeks forcing a return to horses and the Stockyard Creek Track. Regular bus service to the Guesthouse commences.
- 1948
- Mick organises a share buy-back and privatises the company.
- 1951
- Mick and Anne complete their house, including the Green Mountains Store.
- 1953
- A slaughterhouse is built near Morans Creek and cattle are killed here at least once a week. (This continues for the next 25 years).
- 1955
- St. Joseph's Church is moved to the mountain from Gleneagle. Bernard and Viola leave the mountain to open Lost World Guesthouse.
The Second Generation
- 1957
- Vince and Peter become directors of the company. Driest year (858mm) since records began in 1917.
- 1961
- Peter marries Karma England and Vince marries Lona Murphy.
- 1967
- O'Reilly's is connected to mains power.
- 1968
- Land Rovers are bought to cater for the needs of the older guests. The Green Mountains School opens in Hut 2.
- 1974
- Wettest year on record (3767mm).O'Reilly's frequently being isolated due to floods.
- 1975
- Bernard O'Reilly passes away. Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service is formed. O'Reilly's first 4WD bus, ‘Bertha' is purchased.
- 1977
- A large building project includes construction of a reception area and office, lounge, games room and six family units. Green Mountains Natural History Association (GMNHA) formed.
- 1978
- A radio telephone link replaced the Duck Creek party line. The first three kilometres of the road out from the Guesthouse was sealed. Water supply moved from Morans to West Canungra Creek. First O'Reilly's Bird Week.
- 1979
- Mick O'Reilly passes away (May). Mick's wife Anne passes away (September).
- 1980
- Duck Creek Road (4WD Road) is constructed.
- 1984
- The Rainforest Room, O'Reilly's first bar, opens.
- 1987
- The Tree Top Walk is completed.
- 1989
- Joe O'Reilly passes away, the last of the first O'Reilly generation on the mountain.
The Third Generation
- 1990
- Final closing of the big Reservations book with the move to computers.
- 1991
- Sealing of Lamington National Park Road completed.
- 1992
- Lightning strikes the Lone Pine, O'Reilly's ‘Home Tree'.
- 1994
- A year of severe drought.
- 1996
- Vince O'Reilly retires. Karma O'Reilly passes away.
- 1998
- Peter O'Reilly retires.
- 1999
- O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards opens.Vince O'Reilly passes away.
- 2000
- O'Reilly's largest building project including 21 guest rooms, relaxation centre, and new staff accommodations is completed.
- 2001
- O'Reilly's Guesthouse celebrates its 75th anniversary.
- 2003
- Vince and Lona's house is remodelled and converted into two luxurious Two Bedroom Canopy Suites.
- 2005
- 90th Anniversary of Lamington National Park being declared.
- 2006
- O'Reilly's Guesthouse celebrates its 80th anniversary.
